Shipping, shipbuilding, energy production and fishing are the industries of the Baltic Sea
Tens of thousands of people in Finland earn their living directly or indirectly from the sea. The maritime industries are collectively known as the maritime cluster. The maritime cluster has three main groups: marine industry, shipping, and port operations. The maritime cluster also includes commercial fishing and fish farming.
The maritime cluster is highly international in many industries. Most of the customers of Finnish maritime cluster companies are from overseas. Maritime cluster companies also include many businesses that require and develop advanced technology and expertise.
