Learn and explore: Tips for moving outdoors
Move your muscles and travel by land using public transport
Move naturally and sustainably
- Cycle, walk, paddle, row, and sail.
- Use public transport.
- Reduce car use.
- If you drive, prefer electric cars and carpooling.
- Fly as little as possible; instead, take the train and favor local travel.
- Consider when a meeting could be handled online to avoid flying.
Why?
A reduction in fossil fuel-powered transportation decreases nitrogen deposition and helps mitigate climate change by lowering carbon dioxide emissions. These factors also reduce eutrophication in the sea.
Car tires release significant amounts of microplastics and rubber during road traffic, which are carried into waterways through rain and stormwater. By moving naturally and sustainably, you help reduce the microdebris load in the sea.
