The RV Aranda is used year-round to explore the Baltic Sea
The Aranda is a marine research vessel managed by the Finnish Environment Institute. The name Aranda derives from Greek and, loosely translated, means “ploughman of the seas”. As the name implies, the ship has been designed and built specifically to meet the demands of the Baltic Sea. The ship is reinforced for use in icy conditions and operates in the Baltic Sea in all seasons, even in winter.
Here, you can learn more about the daily life on board a marine research vessel, as well as the work of marine scientists. The web pages related to Aranda's operations can be found at: www.syke.fi/aranda.
